This week, before I go on a little vacation myself, I’ve got a little vacation you can take, right from the comfort of your own DXRacer NO1 Gaming Chair! For all my paid subscribers: my monthly subscriber-only email will be sent out within the first week of August, as I will be away from my computer and phone these last couple weeks of July. And for all my readers, to make up for the lack of articles this month, I’ve made sure that August is possibly the most packed month of the entire year.
For now though, lets take a tour of Europe in five parts:
The Jarvis Collection Presents:
The Louvre
1989 | Runtime 60 Minutes
So rich in it's story that even the Mona Lisa Smiles. The award-winning special interest series that was there FIRST! Introduction by Edwin Newman with Lucy Jarvis.
Before this film, no one else, including the French, was ever permitted to film the Louvre. The priceless treasures and incomparable art can now be shared through the eyes of award-winning filmmaker Lucy Jarvis. Set against the panoramic history of France, and hosted by Charles Boyer, The Louvre, regal palace and home to so many of the world's great gifts of art, becomes THE LOUVRE, a film acclaimed and winner of fourteen national and international awards, so rich in its own story that even the Mona Lisa smiles.
Of all the videos in this article this one was the most interesting to me. I’ve been to the Louvre, and while I was only able to experience a small portion of it, the feeling I left with was just complete disbelief. There’s so much to see there, it’s amazing. There’s no other way to describe it.
The filmmaker, Lucy Jarvis is credited with being the first production with ever filming the inside of the Louvre, which in my research may or may not be the case, however, when I do find out a little more information, I’ll share it in another article in the future. Either way, her obviously scripted introduction to this doc is incredibly cringe and a huge throwback to various forms of edu-tainment material I watched while I was in school.

Italy, Switzerland, & Germany in 2010
In 2010, while I was still in high school, I was extremely lucky to be able to take a class trip to Europe. At the time, I hadn’t really had access to a reliable camera or really a huge interest in photography, but I would like to just share a dozen photos here that make me feel very nostalgic for a very transitory time of my life. I hope you enjoy these.
I’ll see y’all next month! Thanks so much for checking out this edition of Diptych Newsletter. I keep Youtube Playlists of the all the wonderful media I find. You can check out the Video Archive here, and the Audio Archive here. As always, if you have any questions or comments, you can get at me here or here or leave a comment below this post.
See you soon.
