This week is a classico mixed bag of media for y’all to enjoy. With a triple feature of dogs, a DVD from Russia, and a new (to me) form of meditation, there’s something for everyone this week! There’s no grand introduction this time, so let’s get right into the tapes!

Obninsk Nuclear Power Plant 50 Year Celebration
2006 | Runtime 20 Minutes
From what I can tell, this is a look back at the first large-scale nuclear power facility in the world. This power plant finished construction in 1954 and started production soon after. This facility has since been closed, but only after nearly 50 years of operation. The narration is in Russian, and is mostly comprised of old photographs but it’s pretty interesting to watch.
I found this in a thrift store in Oak Ridge, TN, a place with it’s own history of nuclear science. I’m not entirely sure how this got here, but I thought it was kind of neat. You also get to see the cool screensaver from my DVD player!
Doing Time, Doing Vipassana

It is a story of an ancient meditation technique named Vipassana," which helps people to take control of their lives and channel them towards their own good and the good of others. But most of all it is the story of the prison inmates who underwent profound change, and who realized that incarceration is not the end but possibly the beginning of a new life.
