This year, I dipped my toes back into attending and performing at shows and in many ways, I felt overwhelmed (but in a good way). I took a solid year off from any kind of live music and while I found the break to be somewhat unaffecting, the first taste I had of live music again was all it took to hook me once more.
I’ve been covering live music in my area for a decade now, and there has never been a time where I felt bored with it. It’s one of the few constants that really feels fulfilling and fun. While the summer has, in the past, been filled with 8+ shows a month, this year was still very different for me.
I may not be willing or ready to dive back in head first, scheduling each weekend around being in a dusty bar every night destroying my ears, but I was able to see a ton of great music this summer and I’d like to highlight some of those artists and the photos I took of them.
Below each photo is a link to the artists work too, so please be sure to check that out!
Yer Flowers and MARK at Club XYZ
Knoxville BMX JAM #7 ft. Day and Age, Steaks, Rat Punch, Stupid Future, and Megamoon X at Tyson Skate Park
GOODVIBESONLY and KENMUJO at the Tigers Den
Antadie, Dozibrion, The Lost Sound Department, Evyn Jean, and Jesse Newcomb at The UT Gardens
Willa Mae and Scout Gillett at the Pilot Light
Snooper at Mill and Mine for KPRFM
In the future, I may return to wrapping up my favorite shows I attend with their own post, but I really wanted to just take a little time and highlight what a great summer it’s been seeing all these great bands. I have my own show coming up on 11/11/22 with Cam at Lowercase Books that I’m really looking forward to, but I’ll be sure to mention it again before the, as it’s over a month away still.
That’s it for this week! I have another media post coming up next week, and I hope you’ll stay tuned for that. Until then stay safe!
