It is a shame that you're not allowed to share train videos on Youtube anymore. You weren't the only content provider axed. Many small companies are holding onto their library because they never changed with the times. In the end we all lose. Looking forward to viewing these journeys tonight. Thank you comrade.

while I don't think the combination of this blog + my archive.org page has the same amount of draw for new viewers, ultimately, i'm happier now with the current set up. i'm not getting messages every week from youtube telling me one of my videos is blocked or deleted or struck or muted or monetized by a company that doesn't even have the rights to it. it's a shame in the sense that it's a little harder to find now, but it's a W in the sense that I feel confident that the videos are safe where they are at now and for a long time to come. And while archive lacks some search or discovery features, the sheer amount of content to be discovered there is unmatched. i get lost like i used to on youtube circa like 2012 it's wonderful.

The video player on archive is lighterweight than the Youtube player has become over time. It may be simple but it has grown on me. You made the right decision, they can't really be touched on Archive.

thanks! yeah, i've grown to really like the video player on archive too. maybe one day substack will allow proper video embeds here from archive, but other than that, i've got no complaints. so glad to hear you're enjoying the blog!
